Speaker – Steve Jensen, Chief Deputy District Attorney for the First Judicial District of Jefferson/ Gilpin Counties
Steve Jensen is a Chief Deputy District Attorney for the First Judicial District, which covers Jefferson and Gilpin Counties in Colorado. He has served as a Deputy District Attorney for 33 years, and has been with the First Judicial District for 31 years. As a prosecutor, Steve Jensen has handled thousands of criminal cases and has conducted more than 200 jury trials, including many high-profile and aggravated cases. Steve has supervised the Crimes against Children Unit, the Juvenile Crime Unit, County Court, District Court, and the Intake Unit. He currently supervises District Court and the limited gaming district of Gilpin County.
Steve is a 1984 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law. In 1983 he clerked for the US Army JAG Corp in West Berlin. He is a 1981 graduate of CSU at Pueblo (formerly the University of Southern Colorado), where he was a member of the United States Debate Team-Japan Tour, in 1980.
